FOOTBALL NEWS - 2020-2021

June 2021

Our Year 6s played their first and only competitive game of the season this week against Robert Miles, with two trophies up for grabs.  The girls were deserved winners 3-2 with ‘Captain Chloe’ netting two goals and Nicole running from the halfway line to score the winner.

The boys put in a valiant display in a 1-0 defeat, though in fairness, Robert Miles deserved the victory.

Results aside, it was a lovely afternoon for our children to take one last opportunity to represent their school.  Well done to all who took part.

Year 4 boys (pictured on the below) also played against Robert Miles this week.  They showed great team spirit against strong opposition but unfortunately came away with a 9-1 defeat.  Maybe next time!!

NOVEMBER 2018 - Carnarvon 2-0 Abbey Road

Carnarvon girls made us very proud during their match yesterday with their sportsmanship and honesty. When they won the toss, they offered the opposition the kick-off. When it was the opposition’s corner, our goal keeper fetched the ball and put it in place for them and when the ball went out, our girls made no appeal. Well done to you all and another great win for Carnarvon.

A great, tense cup-tie last Friday against strong Keyworth opposition. 1-0 down at one stage, but an eventual 3-1 score-line was a deserved victory. Tell us about that goal Ruby!!

FOOTBALL - OCTOBER 2017

Carnarvon 13 - 0 Coddington

Our talented girls' football team coasted into the quarter-finals of the County Cup with an easy win over small village school - Coddington Primary.

Circumstances were perfect for Tallulah to make her school debut and she certainly grasped the opportunity with both hands, scoring a well-deserved hat-trick! What a great start! (Sorry, no, you can't keep the match ball!)

A lovely morning of football for our Y6 boys at the autumn Ruddington tournament: they won two, drew two, lost one and finished narrowly second in the group to miss out on the semi-final. All the boys had a great time, with some excellent performances and no injuries!

Well done boys!

FOREST TOURNAMENT - MAY 2017

Carnarvon was lucky enough to be one of only 16 schools from Nottinghamshire to have the chance to play a tournament on the pitch at the City Ground - home of Nottingham Forest - particularly special as none of the boys had had such an opportunity before. Their Carnarvon career is now almost at an end... just next week's final game against Robert Miles to come!

FOOTBALL - MAY 2017

Year 3 Carnarvon 4 - 0 Robert Miles

Year 4 Carnarvon 3 - 0 Robert Miles

Whilst the boys were particularly pleased with their respective results, we as a school were especially pleased with the way that the children conducted themselves; they played competitively, but fairly, respected both the referee and the opposition and never once showed any disappointment about a decision when they were asked to play or when they were substituted. They were a credit to both the school and their parents.

For the record, there were four great goals from Henry, Joseph, Fraser and Matthew in Year 3, whilst a hat-trick from Cameron in Year 4 capped off a lovely evening of football in the sunshine.

CHAMPIONS OF RUSHCLIFFE! - MAY 2017

Carnarvon 3 - 1 Keyworth (aet)

Last Friday evening our girls successfully retained the Rushcliffe Cup that they won last year, in a very tense and exciting game; losing for much of the game, a well-deserved equaliser forced extra time with Carnarvon's constant pressure leading to two further goals. A tremendous achievement girls - well done!

RUDDINGTON GIRLS' TOURNAMENT - MAY 2017

After the previous night's exertions, the girls did remarkably well to get up early on Saturday morning to attend this tournament. To then reach the semi-final (losing narrowly 1-0 to Abbey Road) was a wonderful achievement yet again! Next game is Robert Miles during Sports Week - bring it on!

YEAR 6 BOYS' - APRIL 2017

A lovely morning for football and some lovely football played: two wins, two narrow defeats and a draw was a creditable overall performance from the Year 6 boys. A great way to spend a sunny Saturday morning - well done!

GIRLS' FOOTBALL - APRIL 2017

Carnarvon 6 - 1 St Edmund Campion
After a disappointing 5-2 defeat away to St Edmund Campion in the County Cup last month, our girls felt they had a bit of a point to prove in the Rushcliffe Cup semi-final against the same opponents.
After a 'slow-mo' start and going a goal behind, Carnarvon were jolted into life, and a debut goal for Amy (and her assistance for the second goal) soon put Carnarvon in control. Not even the hail storm at the end could dampen the euphoric mood as the girls eased comfortably into the final.

CARNARVON GIRLS' - MARCH 2017

Carnarvon Girls 6 - 0 Crossdale

Our girls were back to winning ways last week with a comfortable victory over Crossdale. Great performances all round, however special mentions to Amy in midfield, who tackled strongly and passed accurately and also to Natasha in goal, who made some excellent saves earlier in the game when the score was much closer.

CARNARVON BOYS' - MARCH 2017

Stanhope 1 - 3 Carnarvon Boys'

The boys struggled with their usual passing game on a small, uneven pitch, but were strong and adapted their game well to the conditions and opposition to ease into the quarter-finals of the County Cup. Radcliffe in the next round...

YEAR 6 BOYS FOOTBALL - MARCH 2017

“We had a very hard competition last week. Out of 7 teams we finished 2nd. A special mention to Sam, who scored the majority of our goals, and a solid Cameron, who was at the heart of our defence. I am extremely happy with everyone who came. They represented Carnarvon amazingly well, both on and off the pitch. This was my first event by myself and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!” Matt Stapleford, Sports Apprentice

YEAR 4 BOYS' FOOTBALL FESTIVAL - MARCH 2017

Well done to our Year 4s at the football tournament held at Nottingham High School on Monday 13th March. Some close games resulted in 3 wins, a draw and a defeat, with Carnarvon finishing in a very creditable second place.

CARNARVON GIRLS'

St Edmund Campion 5 - 2 Carnarvon

Carnarvon girls didn’t manage to make it through to the next round of the County Cup on Wednesday, after a tough, well-matched game ended in a defeat that was far narrower than the score line suggests. However the girls have the opportunity to bounce back quickly with a Rushcliffe Cup game against Crossdale next week...

FOOTBALL - FEBRUARY 2017

High School Friendlies:

High School 1 - 5 Carnarvon (Year 5)

High School 4 - 2 Carnarvon (Year 6)

A superior performance by our Year 5 boys resulted in a comfortable win on Friday 24th February. However, after a dominant first half display, our Year 6s let slip a two goal lead, resulting in a disappointing defeat.

GIRLS’ FOOTBALL COMPETITION - FEBRUARY 2017

“On Wednesday, some Year 5 and 6 girls played in the final football match at lunchtime. Two teams were involved and they were the green and yellow teams. They competed over the last two weeks to get a place in the final. Everybody played well and the weather wasn't too cold. At the end of the game, nobody had scored so we had to do penalties. The captains picked three people from each team to take them. Natasha from Year 6, playing for greens, scored a goal. The other team were unlucky and didn't score.

The greens came first, thanks to Natasha! The yellow team came second. The winning team received a gold medal, with silver going to the second place team.

Everybody enjoyed playing these matches and well done to all teams that took part”.

Written by Connie from 6H.
