Carnarvon Primary School

Year 6

Welcome to the Year 6 Web Page

The Spring Term is now well under way and our year six children have been enjoying their new history topic, Britain at War. Between now and Easter, they will be finding our about the causes, events and consequences of the First and Second World Wars;  a helpful information sheet is available below.

In maths, we continue to follow the White Rose scheme of work and have a focus on decimals and percentages followed by a topic on various aspects of shape, to include area, perimeter and volume. In addition, there will be a focus on weekly arithmetic practice and an opportuity to revise topics on Mathletics. To support your child with maths at home, we have added some helpful workbooks which you can download below.

Our novel study, and much of our work in English will be based on the book 'Carrie's War' by Nina Bowden which tells the story of two children from London who are evacuated to the Welsh countryside during the second world war.

In Science, the children are finding out about light - how it travels and behaves. After half term, our Science topic is Evolution and Inheritance, which explores how living things on Earth have changed and adapted over time.

In PE, year 6 continue to enjoy their weekly lesson  with Mr Hall or Mr English and are learning to play Volleyball.
