Work hard, be kind

Carnarvon Primary School

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Our curriculum for the summer term is based on our Ancient Greek topic. The children will be finding out all about life, culture and key aspects of the various periods. Each child has also brought home a knowledge organiser which outlines the topic. We have looked at these in school – please do look at these with your children if you get opportunity to (there is also copy below if you need it). The topic will culminate in the children creating a podcast entitled ‘The Ancient Greeks' Greatest Idea’.

In English lessons, we will be looking at the features and themes within Greek myths and then writing our own. We will then be learning how to write effective balanced arguments, studying playscripts and also writing our own poetry (odes).

In Maths lessons, we will be continuing to follow the White Rose scheme. Topics to be covered this term include: fractions, decimals, geometry and measurement.

Science will involve looking at life cycles, the human circulatory system, the human digestive system and also electricity.
