PE is on Wednesdays

Welcome to 2024-25! Our main topic for the autumn term is ‘Dynamic Dynasties, a history topic, where the children will be learning all about ancient China. They will be finding out about what life was like for people in ancient China, how they celebrated religion and the kind of stories and fables they told.

In English, we will be writing our own narrative poems about a Chinese story called 'the Nodding Tiger.' We will then be writing biographies about Fu Hao, who was a famous Chinese warrior. To finish the Autumn term in English, the children will be writing their very own time travel stories, in which they will travel back to the Shang Dynasty. 

Maths will follow the White Rose Scheme and this term will cover fractions, multiplication and division, addition and subtraction and place value. We will also be doing a weekly arithmetic test every Friday to support children with their arithmetic skills and number fluency.

Within the wider curriculum, we have lots of engaging topics planned. For example, we will be working on pneumatics in DT, where the children will get the chance to create their own pop up toy. In art, we are looking at tints, tones and shades. We will also be investigating forces and space in science, learning about Buddhism in RE and improving our athletics skills in PE. We have lots of exciting things planned throughout the term, which we are sure the children will thoroughly enjoy!
