Welcome to the Year 6 Web Page
Summer Term 2025
We hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for a jam-packed Summer Term! We will be starting our 'Food for Life' topic, where we learn about bread and processed and unprocessed foods.
In Maths, we continue to follow the White Rose scheme of work and have a focus on: shape, geometry (position and direction), as well as revision for the SATs. We will be continuing our weekly arithmetic practice as well. To support your child with maths at home, we have added some helpful workbooks which you can download below and you can also purchase the Y6 CGP books via the office or from Amazon (an email was previously sent out with recommended books).
In Science, we will be learning about 'Evolution and Inheritance', where we find out about how living things on Earth have changed over time and how fossils provide evidence for this. We also learn about the characteristics which are passed from parents to their offspring and how variation in offspring can affect their survival, with changes (adaptations) possibly leading to the evolution of a species.
In PE, Year 6 continue to enjoy their weekly lesson with Mr Hall on Mondays - the focus this term is 'Outdoor Adventurous Activities'.
In Computing, we will be learning about Programming and our Art topic is 'Environmental Artists'.
We will be following the DAaRT programme, which will be planned and taught internally. This is Drugs, Alcohol and Resilience Training.
We will also be spending some time practising for our Y5/6 production, Sports Week, Enterprise Week and Forest School. We also have our trip to Duke's Barn, which will provide the children with the opportunity to try a range of activities and work as part of a team.
