Work hard, be kind

Carnarvon Primary School

Year 5

Welcome to year 5 Spring term!

We have a really exciting Spring term this year! Our overall topic is sow, grow and farm and within this we will be looking at farming, allotments, seasonal food and much more!

We get to go on some great trips to Bingham allotment and Screveton Eco-Farm, where the children get to have tractor rides around the farm and they also get to see some baby lambs! They also get the chance in late March to go up to Toot Hill to make soup, and of course get to take part in bikeability.

In other areas of the curriculum, we look at area and perimeter, decimals and percentages, statistics and multiplication and division as we continue to follow the White Rose scheme in maths. In English, they create their own leaflets about their restaurants that they invent. They also write diary entries and create some non-chronological reports about allotments.

In science, we learn all about human ageing and reproduction and in art we look at nature's art and line, light and shadow.

There is lots to look forward to this term and we are sure the children will really enjoy it!
