Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Welcome to our Year 4

Web Page

Here is what we'll be learning about during the Spring term:

  • Our main topic is 'Misty Mountain, Winding River'. Here, we will be learning about rivers, erosion, transportation, and deposition. Continuing with world rivers, aerial images, mountains, compass points, the water cycle and soil.
  • For reading, we are continuing to build on our vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval and summary skills (VIPERS).
  • In Maths, we will be continuing our learning about Multiplication and Division, then moving onto Fractions and Decimals.
  • We will also be continuing to practise timestables and will be using TTRS throughout the year. The children will be sitting the national Multiplication Table Check (MTC) in June (the format is very similar to ‘SoundCheck’ on TTRS) - more details to follow.
  • In Science, we will be learning about States of Matter. The children will learn about Solids, Liquids, and Gases and their characteristic properties.
  • We will be having PE on Tuesdays, so please come into school with your PE kit on this day.
  • We are looking forward to our PGL residential on May 5th - more details to follow!
  • You can find more detailed information about each topic within our ‘Knowledge Organisers’ (see below).

Throughout the year, we will keep these pages updated so you can see what we are learning about in school.

Planners

Please continue to check your child’s planner regularly so that you can see what they should be doing and sign it to acknowledge that you have read it. You can also record any home reading there and sign for the Read to Succeed school challenge. Children will have their new spellings in their planners every Monday and will be tested the following Monday.
