Welcome to the Reception Web Page. Here you will find lots of helpful information about all of the wonderful learning we will be doing.
Our main topic this half term is Big Wide World, this project teaches children about the global community to which they belong and explores how living things, communities and climates differ around the world.
After half term we will continue our Big Wide World topic we will also be learning through the topic Splash!, this project teaches children about water, including floating and sinking, freezing and melting, and why it is important for living things to stay hydrated.
We will also be enjoying our Sunshine and Sunflowers topic; this seasonal project provides opportunities for outdoor learning and teaches children how to care for the plants and animals in their local environment and how to stay safe in the sun.
The sounds we will cover this term will be; ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo/oo, ar,or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er. The common exception words we will cover will be; some, one, said, come, do, so , were, when, have, there, out, like, little, what.
In Mathematics we will continue to follow the White Rose Maths scheme. Our blocks of learning this term are; To 20 and Beyond, How Many Now? Manipulate, Compose & Decompose, Sharing & Grouping, Visualise, Build & Map and Make Connections.

Reading Planet Rocket Phonics: Pronunciation of phonics sounds Pink A/Phonics Phase 2
In this short video, you'll hear how every phonics sound (or grapheme-phoneme correspondence) is pronounced. You'll also hear a word(s) for each sound so you can place the sound in context. The flashcards featured are taken from the Reading Planet Rocket Phonics SSP programme which we use in school.
