Reception
Welcome to Reception!
Welcome to the Reception Web Page. Here you will find lots of helpful information about all of the wonderful learning we will be doing.
Our main topic this half term is Starry Night, this project explores the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. It teaches children about the importance of a good night’s sleep, and helps them to discover what is happening in the world while they are sleeping, including finding out about nocturnal animals.
We will also be learning through Stories and Rhymes; this project teaches children about traditional stories and rhymes and gives them the opportunity to play with words and learn new vocabulary.
After half term our main topic is Long Ago, this project teaches children about how they have grown and changed since they were babies and how life in the past was different from today.
We will also be enjoying our Signs of Spring topic, this project teaches children about the changes that happen during the spring, including weather and the festivals that are celebrated at this time of year.
The sounds we will cover this term will be; f, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee. The common exception words we will cover will be; go, into, he, she, we, me, be, was, my, you, her, they, all, are, he, she, we, me, be, was.
